City of Toronto Stormwater and Water Service Charge Consultation Update

In November and December 2022, the City held the first round of consultations with stakeholder groups to receive initial feedback on possible implementation of a stormwater charge (SWC) and water service charge (WSC). It was determined that a second round of stakeholder consultation was required, as well as a broader public consultation was expected to take place in Spring 2023.

Recently, City Council asked for a report back on broader revenue tool options in Q3 2023. As such, the SWC and WSC public and stakeholder consultation planned for Spring 2023 is now anticipated to take place in late 2023 to ensure consideration and alignment with broader City initiatives. When there is a confirmed consultation approach and timeline, stakeholders will be notified via email on how to register for consultation events.
